In piano bar, one must be ready to play and sing anything!
Adelaide gave Sandi the opportunity to learn classical piano, musical theatre, songwriting, music/piano teaching, music arranging, choir training, accompanying, and solo cabaret performance.
Sandi has been one of South Australia’s most widely-travelled and enduring and versatile entertainers, including as an unofficial ambassador for Adelaide and South Australia in song, especially with her compositions Adelaide You're a Lady, Spirit of South Australia and The Sea Dragon Coast. Oh, and Hello How are you Robe, her ode to SA Arts personality Peter Goers!
In the early 70s, singer/pianist Sandi McMenamin and songwriting partner Andrew Murrell composed a musical on the history of Monarto up to the end of WW1. It has never been performed! Andrew recorded all songs before he passed away.
Sandi is determined to stage it in Andrew’s memory, using both their voices. This is the back story while waiting for Indigenous permission.
